Implementation of Official Sea Food Safety Control fees

From 1st October 2021, fees are being charged in respect of food safety official controls carried out at approved establishments and approved vessels, as required by the Official Controls Regulation (EU) 2017/625 which came into force on 1/1/2019. This EU regulation introduced a suite of charges for food safety official controls at approved establishment and vessels. Article 20 of SI No 22 of 2020 gives legal effect to this Regulation.

Below is an FAQ document with additional information and and overview of the framework and fees payable by Food Business Operators. Fees are in respect of the range of official controls at approved fishery establishments and vessels that apply from 1st October 2021.  Food Business Operators will be invoiced quarterly in arrears, Each approved Food Business Operator is opliged to complet the Self Declaration form and submit it to the SFPA quarterly by the following dates:

Friday 8th April 2022

Friday 8th July 2022

Friday 7th October 2022

All approved establishments and vessels are required to complete and submit to the SFPA for the purpose of issuing invoices and a template of the self-declaration form, The SFPA will issue the invoice for fees to the operator by the end of the same month of the self declaration submissions.
