Industrial Action 14 October 2026

Industrial Action 14 October 2026

The SFPA has been notified by trade unions of a 24-hour work stoppage across the public service from 00.00hrs on Wednesday 14th October 2026.

The SFPA is making every effort to minimise the impact of this industrial action on the industry and has put contingency plans in place for its duration.

Please note the following arrangements for the day:

Operational Matters:
Mick Finn will be the point of contact.
Tel: +353 (85) 8012209

ERS and Third Country Landing Authorisations:
Contact the Fisheries Monitoring Centre (FMC).
Tel: 021 437 8752
Email: FMC@defenceforces.ie

AFIT and Seafood Safety Emergencies:
The SFPA will monitor the AFIT system for import clearing and will also respond to any reports of seafood safety emergencies.

Catch Certificates:
The SFPA will not have staff available to issue Catch Certificates for vessels landing into non-EU countries during this industrial action. The SFPA recommends that affected vessels consider landing into ports in other EU countries.

The SFPA appreciates that this day of action may disrupt services across the wider public service. Notwithstanding the inconvenience, we will work to minimise the impact on our services wherever possible.
