Brexit was high on the agenda when fishermen, processors and shellfish producers from across Donegal and the north west coast gathered in the Abbey Hotel in Donegal town on the 10th April 2019 for the latest SFPA Breakfast seminar...The event was the third in a series of free seminars taking place around the coast over the coming months that look at the topical issues for the sector including landing obligations, vessel compliance and risk assessment. The next event takes place in the Maritime Hotel, Bantry, Co Cork on Wednesday, 29 May. Further events are planned for Galway, Kerry and Cork.
Attendees at the breakfast seminar in Donegal heard about the latest developments and regulations in the fishing sector and had their questions answered personally by relevant experts from the SFPA and other organisations. Dr Susan Steele, SFPA Chair, said: “The sector faces a number of other significant challenges and these seminars will equip the industry with the information they need. The response from industry has been very positive, with a strong attendance at the first three events in Waterford, Dublin and Donegal.”
The Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine; Workplace Relations Commission; Revenue; Health and Safety Authority; BIM; FSAI; Marine Institute; Naval Service; Inland Fisheries Ireland and the National Parks & Wildlife Service were among the wide range of organisations represented at the Donegal event. These organisations will also be attending the remaining events in the series.
Places at the seminars are limited and anyone interested in attending is asked to register in advance by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Full details of later events in the series will be confirmed on www.sfpa.ie closer to the time, with details of confirmed events below
