Dominic Rihan

Dominic Rihan is the Chief Executive Officer of the Killybegs Fishermen's Organisation having taken over the role from Sean O'Donoghue in early 2024. He began his professional career in BIM in 1990 as a Fishing Gear Technologist. From 2003 to December 2010, Dominic undertook the role of the Marine Technical Executive in charge of the Fishing Technology Unit within the Fisheries Development Division. From January 2011 to December 2015, he took a secondment to the European Commission as a Seconded National Expert, working on Fisheries Policy. In January 2016, Dominic returned to BIM as the Fisheries Development Manager in the Fisheries Development and Training Division before becoming Economic and Strategic Services (ESS) Manager in 2018 and Director in 2020. He is a former chair of the Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries (STECF), an expert committee appointed by the European Commission to advise on European Fisheries Policy as well as the ICES-FAO Working Group on Fish Technology and Fish Behaviour (WGFTFB). .
