Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority Issues Information Notice to Industry ref. Agreement of Export Health Certification for Exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority Issues Information Notice to Industry ref. Agreement of Export Health Certification for Exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Agreement of Export Health Certification for Exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA) recently issued an Information Notice to industry in relation to technical requirements for Irish companies trading with Bosnia and Herzegovina in an evolving third country regulatory environment.

The SFPA has agreed the format of an Export Health Certificate for Fishery Products with the Veterinary Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Please contact your local SFPA office for a copy of this certificate template.

This agreement opens up Bosnia and Herzegovina as a new market for Irish exporters of fishery products. No third country registration needs to be undertaken - Irish exporters simply need to ensure any consignments destined for Bosnia and Herzegovina are accompanied by a copy of the Bosnia and Herzegovina specific export health certificate template, and the generic third country certificate of origin issued by their local SFPA port office.

Please note that this certificate can only be used to certify wild caught fish and fishery products and wild caught crustaceans which are no longer viable. Live bivalve molluscs, live crustaceans and products derived from aquaculture cannot be exported from Ireland to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

About the SFPA

The Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA) is the independent statutory body responsible for the regulation of the sea-fisheries and the sea-food production sectors. It promotes compliance with the EU Common Fisheries Policy, sea-fisheries law and food safety law relating to fish and fish products, verifies compliance and, where necessary, enforces it. Its mandate covers all fishing vessels operating within Ireland’s 200-mile limit, over 2,000 Irish registered fishing vessels wherever they operate, and all seafood produced in Ireland’s seafood processing companies. The SFPA operates through a network of regional port offices situated at Ireland’s main fishery harbours. For further information visit: www.sfpa.ie
